Yorkshire star Charlie Manby's win in PDC World Darts Championship provokes furious Cameron Menzies reaction
Victory for Yorkshire bricklayer Charlie Manby in the first round of the PDC World Darts Championship provoked a furious reaction from his opponent, Cameron Menzies.
After suffering a 3-2 defeat to the unseeded 20-year-old debutant, No 24 seed Menzies proceeded to punch the table on stage at the Alexandra Palace.
‘Champagne Charlie’ as he is known won a nerve-jangling final leg on double one to clinch the match and send Menzies into a rage.
Ranked 166 by the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation), Manby – a bricklayer by trade who comes from between Huddersfield and Wakefield – qualified for his first shot at world glory through a fourth-placed finish on the organisation’s Development Tour.
