Batley 20 Sheffield 8: Eagles lose unbeaten record

Sheffield Eagles surrendered their unbeaten start to the season as John Kear's Batley continued their impressive start with a second win over full-time opponents.

Scrum-half Dominic Brambani scored two tries and Pat Walker kicked four goals against their old club in the Bulldogs’ 20-8 win over Sheffield.

Alister Leek scored the other try for Batley, who opened the season with a shock win over Leigh, while Papua New Guinea internationals Menzie Yere and Garry Lo were tryscorers for the Eagles in their first defeat of the season.

Saturday’s scheduled Championship game between Whitehaven and Featherstone Rovers was postponed due to an unfit pitch.
