Huddersfield Giants boss Jim Lenihan addresses Jake Arthur speculation

Jim Lenihan has confirmed that Jake Arthur "has come up on the radar" but insists that Huddersfield Giants have yet to agree a deal with the Hull FC half-back.

Arthur – son of Leeds Rhinos boss Brad – appears set for an early exit from Hull following the signing of Daly Cherry-Evans, with Love Rugby League reporting that the Giants were close to landing the 23-year-old.

Lenihan kept his cards close to his chest when quizzed on the link.

"There's a bit of due diligence going on," said Lenihan, who confirmed the Giants had yet to make decisions on off-contract halves Adam Clune and Tui Lolohea.

"I think we're talking to a few half-backs. There's no hard, concrete evidence of a decision being made yet, certainly going into the back end of the year.

"We're just touching base with a few clubs and players. Jake Arthur is certainly one that has come up on the radar because of his movement from Hull FC."

Huddersfield are making positive strides on the field as they continue to build for a brighter 2027.

Lenihan, however, has stressed that four straight wins and another competitive showing at Warrington Wolves can only be the beginning.

"As much as it's nice and fuzzy to feel that we've put a few games together at the back end, all the hard work is still in front of us," he said ahead of Friday's clash with Leigh Leopards.

"We're not achieving anything of any great significance on the level of Super League at the moment, other than with ourselves to give us some confidence for next year.

"We want to not just be competing against the bottom end of the table; we want to be competing against the top end of the table. That's our work-on.

"If we can jag one, two, three wins and it pops us up the table enough, that'd be really wonderful for us."
