Hull KR drawing on last year's Challenge Cup emotion for latest Wembley push
Willie Peters says Hull KR are drawing on the emotion of last year’s historic Challenge Cup success to fuel their latest Wembley push.
The holders stand 80 minutes from a third final in four seasons as they prepare to return to Doncaster, the scene of their semi-final humbling by Wigan Warriors two years ago.
Rather than find motivation from old disappointments, Peters wants his players to tap into the memory of lifting the trophy.
"That feeling is unbelievable," said the KR boss ahead of Sunday's last-four clash with Warrington Wolves.
"Whether you're a player, a member of staff or a fan, you want it again. We all want it again.
"You don't want to look too far ahead but it's important that you chase that feeling you had. I'm a believer in tapping into that more so than something that happened a couple of years ago.
"It was a great feeling to win against Catalans at York last year and there's an opportunity to feel that again this week."
Peters led Rovers to a clean sweep of trophies after ending their 40-year drought but is now preparing for his final months at the club.

The Australian, however, maintains his departure is having no bearing on this week's semi-final build-up.
"Every year I've had the same desire and so have the players.," he said. "Nothing has changed.
"It's not about me. We know what's in front of us. There's a buzz around the place.
"We value and respect the Challenge Cup. You can see that in the way the players have trained and their energy levels. We need to make sure we get it right this week because there's no second chance.

"I see this week as a great opportunity. I've seen a level of consistency with our team. I can see they're hungry."
Rovers have never failed to reach the semi-finals of any competition since Peters' arrival in late 2022. He believes his side have developed a big-game temperament along the way.
"When you're going into a game and not worried about the result so much, you can handle big occasions," said Peters. "That's what the players are doing well at the moment.
"The players have played in a lot of big games now so they know what to expect and how to handle certain situations.

"We understand that it's do or die and the rewards at the end of it but the learning from a couple of years ago is not worrying so much about making sure you win. It's just about getting it right beforehand and making sure you're in a good headspace on game day when it's time to go."
Peters, whose side have won their last six matches, could have the luxury of selecting from a full-strength squad as Arthur Mourgue completes his recovery from a torn pectoral muscle.
The French full-back has not featured since KR's World Club Challenge win over Brisbane Broncos in February.
"He's certainly in contention," said Peters during his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
"He trained with the squad today so we need to look at the back end of the week and decide what we do but he looks sharp.
"It's just working out whether we keep him until next week, which was the plan and the return date, or whether we play him this week.
"I think everyone seems okay. We've got a good squad at the moment. Obviously, players, this time of the year, they'll always carry something but everyone seems okay."
