Laulu-Togagae double earns Sheffield victory

A dominant performance from Sheffield Eagles saw the reigning champions send Leigh reeling to their second defeat of the season.

Quentin Laulu-Togagae and Dominic Brambani were dominant figures. Laulu-Togagae claimed two tries and looked dangerous throughout while Brambani booted six goals.

After a bright opening in which the Centurions fashioned chances for Jon Pownall, Martyn Ridyard and two for Steve Maden, Sheffield took command with the elusive Laulu-Togagae running in the first of two tries.

A long spell of pressure brought a converted try from Joe Hirst and a penalty from Brambani. Laulu-Togagae nipped over for his second and on the stroke of half-time a mistake from Leigh saw Menzie Yere touch down.

The Centurions launched a second-half fightback with Ryan Duffy and Sam Hopkins claiming tries with Ridyard converting both to move Leigh within bonus point range. Sheffield showed their mettle however with Tom Armstrong and Scott Turner scoring either side of Duffy’s second score.

Key Eagle Brambani then kicked to the corner for Taulapapa with the half-back putting his sixth goal over the posts to inflict a 40-18 defeat on the Centurions.
