'Sold me on it': Mat Feagai's first words after signing Castleford Tigers deal

Castleford Tigers have continued their squad rebuild with the signing of St George Illawarra Dragons outside back Mat Feagai on a three-year deal from 2027.

The 25-year-old has scored 27 tries in 74 games for the Dragons since his NRL debut in 2021.

Feagai, who represented Samoa at the 2022 World Cup, will join current St George team-mate Damien Cook at Wheldon Road next season.

"It's really exciting," he said.

"I've had good chats with Chris (Chester) and Carry (Ryan Carr) and they sold me on it pretty early.

"I can't wait to get over there and play for Castleford. There's definitely something building into the future and I'm glad to be a part of it."

Chester views the signing as another step in the right direction for the club.

"Mat is playing some really good rugby at present in the NRL and is exactly the type of player whose style suits the Super League game," said the Castleford director of rugby. "He’s a big, athletic centre with great footwork and a good understanding of the game.

"I’m delighted to get Mat over the line for the next three years."
