Warrington Wolves v Huddersfield Giants: Jim Lenihan identifies key factor behind resurgence

Jim Lenihan has identified simplicity as the driving force behind Huddersfield Giants' recent revival.

The Giants had lost 12 games in a row, including the first eight of Lenihan's reign, before turning the form book on its head with four straight wins.

Their latest victory over Toulouse Olympique in the south of France lifted Huddersfield off the foot of Super League for the first time since round two.

"I think we've got a happy group at the moment," said Lenihan. "They love coming to training and are working hard.

"It's really clear what we're trying to do – it's not convoluted or overly complicated. I think the simplicity of what we're trying to do allows the players to put their effort into their effort instead of their thinking.

"'Less thinking, more doing' is a motto that we have here."

After a favourable run of fixtures against sides in the bottom half, the Giants face Warrington Wolves, Leigh Leopards and Hull KR between now and the end of the season.

A challenging run-in is steeling Huddersfield's focus as they look to finish the job and avoid the wooden spoon.

"We're still pretty much down there," said Lenihan.

"There are certainly a lot of games to go yet and opportunities for other teams to win and move up the ladder.

"It's a nice feeling to be off the bottom for the moment but that can certainly change quickly. It's up to us to make sure we try and stay off the bottom.

"We're certainly going up in class this week against Warrington. They'll come directly at us.

"They're a top-four side that we're looking forward to measuring ourselves against."
