York Knights replace Paul Vaughan with experienced NRL prop
York Knights have tasked Blake Lawrie with filling Paul Vaughan's boots after signing the experienced St George Illawarra Dragons prop on an initial two-year contract.
The 29-year-old, whose deal includes an option for 2029, will arrive with more than 170 games' worth of experience in the NRL. He has spent his entire career to date with the Dragons after debuting in 2017.
Lawrie is ready to help the Knights reach the next level after a promising first season in Super League.
"I'm really excited to be joining York in 2027," he said.
"It's a club with plenty of ambition and I'm looking forward to being part of what they're building.
"I'm coming over to play my best footy, add to the group and help the club compete at the highest level."
York were left on the lookout for a senior prop after Vaughan's decision to call time on his illustrious career.
Mark Applegarth believes the Knights have an able replacement in Lawrie.

"I'm delighted to have Blake over the line, a proven top-level middle with over 170 NRL games," said the York boss.
"Not only will he bring a high standard on the park but his leadership will be vital off it as well as we look to push to the next level.
"I'm really looking forward to getting to know Blake and his family and can't wait to see him in a Knights shirt."
