Former car dealership on busy Yorkshire route can be demolished for redevelopment
A former car dealership on a busy route can be demolished to make way for a “two phase redevelopment.”
Last month a notice seeking permission to demolish the former Mercedes-Benz dealership on Thornton Road was submitted to Bradford Council.
The application was made by international company EG on the Move – which specialises in forecourts, convenience stores and restaurants.
The demolition application has now been approved.

The application said the cleared site will be re-developed in two phases, with detailed planning applications to follow in the coming weeks.
It added: “Phase 1 will take access from Brownroyd Street and will be subject to an application in the near future.
“Phase 2 will be brought forward when development is agreed.”
The site has been vacant since late 2024, when the car dealership closed. It is on one of the main routes into and out of Bradford city centre.
The application was approved by default, as the Council had not made a decision on the works in the required time scale.
