University of Leeds joins forces with Grant Thornton UK on new degree programme
The University of Leeds has joined forces with professional services firm Grant Thornton UK, to create a degree programme where students will combine academic study with paid work experience.
Students will take multiple paid work placements across the first, second and fourth years of their degree and a full year placement with Grant Thornton during the third year. The first cohort will start in September 2026. Students will have the opportunity to access Grant Thornton mentors, who will help them develop professional skills.
Following completion of the degree, graduates will be considered for permanent roles with Grant Thornton, including the potential for an Associated Chartered Accountant (ACA) training agreement and a fast-track route to qualification.
Abigail Fisher, Chief People Officer at Grant Thornton UK, said: “By combining academic excellence with real-world experience through our Talent Track programme, we’re creating a clear, accelerated route to chartered status for ambitious students, and breaking down traditional barriers to opportunity."

Professor Julia Bennell, Executive Dean of Leeds University Business School, said: “This distinctive new degree programme brings together the academic rigour and strength of Leeds University Business School with meaningful, paid professional experience.”
