Airport raids uncover fake designer goods

Thousands of fake designer items have been stopped from hitting the Christmas market after they were intercepted at Luton airport.

Around eight tonnes of suspected counterfeit items were held by UK Border Agency officers in three separate raids.

Among the items were 1,500 fake GHD hair straighteners and hair dryers, and approximately 1,400 pairs of counterfeit Ugg boots.

Other designer brands discovered included Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, Gucci, Fred Perry, True Religion, Stone Island, Moncler and La Martina.

They had arrived on freight flights from Turkey and were destined for the East End of London and the East Midlands.
