Lowton, who is a defender at Bramall Lane said: "Sheffield's got a great sporting history and really bright sporting future and it's really good to see an exhibition that celebrates that.

"Sheffield United is delighted to support Sports Lab as it mirrors what the club is doing to encourage children and families to get interested in sport and learn more about the ways they can stay fit."

Sports Lab: The Science Behind the Medals opens on Saturday January 29, with a launch day event including demonstrations by members of the British Wheelchair Basketball Team and the Trials Mountain Bike Display Team. There will also be a climbing wall for visitors to test.

The exhibition continues until November 20.
