‘RIP wee man’: Tributes pour in for little boy died who after being shot in the head on a farm near Yorkshire
Eight-year-old Jay Cartmell from Frizington, Cumbria, suffered serious head and face injuries in the tragic incident on a farm near Warcop, Cumbria, at around 2.50pm on Saturday (Sept 29).
He passed away overnight after being taken to hospital in an air ambulance.

Hide AdCumbria Constabulary said the firearm was secured by officers at the scene and a man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter following his death.
Tributes have now been paid to the boy and condolences given to his family from Jay’s school teachers, sports coaches and members of the community.
Jericho Primary School, in Whitehaven, where Jay was a pupil, said: “Our Jericho family are mourning the tragic loss of Jay Cartmell, a much-loved pupil, who passed away earlier this week.
“Our school community is deeply saddened by this devastating event and offers heartfelt condolences to the family.

Working Comets Speedway team paid tribute to the young fan.
They said: “Workington Speedway are saddened to hear of the passing of young Comets fan Jay Cartmell, aged eight. We send our deepest condolences to his family at this time…”
Whitehaven Miners Social Football Club, of which Jay was a member, set up a memorial for the youngster at the club’s grounds.
They stated: “RIP wee man. Our thoughts are with your family coaches n team mates.”

Hide AdStaff at Fellview Healthcare, in Cumbria, sent their condolences to Jay’s mother, Leigha Cartmell, their colleague, and father, James, while decreasing their services for patients.
They said: “Anne Thompson, Dr Carrington, the GPs and all the staff at Fellview send deepest and heartfelt condolences to their colleague Leigha and her husband James at this difficult time on the tragic loss of their son Jay.”
Workington Comets Speedway has also set up a Just Giving page.
They stated: “We are raising £5,000 in memory of Jay Cartmell who tragically lost his life on Saturday 28th September aged eight.
