Sewerby Hall: Baby T-Rex made from Lego which took hours to build stolen from Yorkshire country house

A baby T-rex which was painstakingly recreated from Lego over a number of hours has been stolen from the Yorkshire country house where it was on show.

The 2ft tall statue of the baby tyrannosaurus rex was on display at Sewerby Hall and Gardens as part of its ICONIC BRICKS: Dinosaurs! exhibition which finishes today (Sep 23).

The model went missing from one of the gardens at the attraction between Thursday afternoon (Sep 19) and Friday morning (Sep 20).

The theft has been reported to the police, and a statement from the country house said no further action will be taken if the statue is returned to the hall.

The statue was due to be moved from the attraction today to be moved to another venue.

Marie Gascoigne, general manager of Sewerby Hall and Gardens said: “The exhibition has been very popular and someone obviously liked the baby T-rex a bit too much.

“We would really like the model to be returned so it can be returned to ICONIC BRICKS. It can’t be extinct!”

Each of the installations featured a plaque with information about how many Lego pieces the dinosaur is made from and how long they took to craft. Some of the larger models took up to 400 hours and 250,000 pieces to complete.
