Hospital saves on its postage costs
Yesterday, a spokesman for the hospital trust said the idea came from the women’s and paediatric departments, which previously sent out 25 times as much first class mail as second class.
Project officer William Brunt said: “The postal team told me there was no significant benefit for sending things first class and, if items were urgent or confidential, they should be sent by recorded or special delivery.

Hide Ad“Sending items second class has now become standard across all directorates. There has been a great deal of enthusiasm from general managers and it’s got people questioning why they need to send things first class.”
Chief executive Eric Morton said the “fantastic initiative” would “save a substantial amount of money with minimal impact to staff” and added: “We need to make changes from the bottom up and the more suggestions like this one we get the better.”
