Huddersfield Town staff member tests positive for Coronavirus

A MEMBER of Huddersfield Town's training ground support staff has tested positive for Covid-19.

The staff member, who is asymptomatic, is now self-isolating in line with EFL and government guidance.

The round of EFL testing from May 30 to June 2 revealed nine positive tests for coronavirus from six separate Championship clubs.

Last night, Sheffield Wednesday confirmed that a member of staff had also tested positive for Covid-19.

One thousand and ninety-four players and club staff from all 24 Championship sides, and 126 individuals from four League Two clubs were tested in the batch of testing at the end of last week and start of the current week.

A Huddersfield club statement read: "Huddersfield Town can confirm that a member of staff has tested positive for COVID-19 following the latest round of testing at the club’s Canalside training complex.

"The individual will not be named due to medical confidentiality, but we can confirm that it is a member of the training ground support staff.

"The person in question is currently asymptomatic and will now self-isolate, in line with protocol.

"We will continue to strictly adhere to the EFL’s return to training protocols, ensuring that Canalside remains a safe environment for the players and staff."
