
Emergency services were called to the incident on the A1 southbound between Junctions 46 and 45 at 2.37am and found two HGVs in collision - one was on the grass verge, the other taking up two lanes.
Crews from Wetherby, Stanks, Cleckheaton and Tadcaster attended, together with police and ambulance personnel.
A spokesman from Wetherby Fire Station said today: “We were at the scene a couple of hours. Three people were trapped and had to be freed. They all suffered some injured and were taken to hospital.”
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
