Standing ovation as Holden returns to Britain’s Got Talent after birth ordeal

Amanda Holden was greeted by cheering fans as she rejoined the judging panel of Britain’s Got Talent after the birth of her daughter left her in a critical condition in hospital.

The mother-of-two made her first public appearance at the talent show auditions in Edinburgh since giving birth to Hollie nearly three weeks ago.

Dressed in a tangerine top, she looked radiant and happy as she smiled for fans outside the Festival Theatre in the Scottish capital on Saturday.

Holden, 40, is thought to have had a blood transfusion following a Caesarean and was in a critical condition for three days.

The actress and presenter has been recovering at home in south-west London since being discharged from hospital with her husband Chris Hughes and their other daughter Lexi, six.

She said: “Hollie is absolutely beautiful and the four of us are so happy together as a family. We feel complete.

“I’m in a fortunate position in that I have a strong support network of family and friends around me.

“My medical care was fantastic. I’m now feeling completely well despite everything I’ve been through. I’m just happy to be back to normal and heading back to work.”

Holden was greeted by a standing ovation from the audience as she arrived inside the theatre to watch the auditions.

She smiled and hugged production crew and chatted to members of the audience as she made her way to the judges’ table.

Simon Cowell told the excited audience: “We have all missed her.”

Holden hinted at the difficulties she had faced over the past month as she gave her verdict on one of the acts. She said: “I haven’t spoken for three weeks.”

She had to step down from the show and missed the Cardiff and London auditions. She was initially not replaced, but last week US actress Carmen Electra temporarily joined show regulars Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
