Tricia Penrose: "I bought my first car as a young actress on Brookside"
Tricia Penrose says her first car was a delight. It was a red Ford Escort Popular which she bought when she was a young actress on Brookside.
“I was definitely a teenager when I got it, probably 17,” she said. “It was a good first car and I very much enjoyed being able to drive.
“To have the freedom to go where you want when you want was fantastic.”
Trish, who starred in the hit series Heartbeat as barmaid Gina, said she had some interesting cars over the years including a Bentley/ “I wrapped it in this sort of opal colour which sounds strange now but it actually looked good,” she said.

“It was a brilliant car but I am a bit more sensible now with a MINI. But it is a John Cooper Works version, which is great. I love it.”
Trish, 56, who is also a singer and radio presenter, says she recently bought the Goathland Hotel which appeared in Heartbeat as the Aidensfield Arms.
She has plans with two other co-owners to make the pub a destination venue with Heartbeat-themed rooms.
Trish, who lives in Lancashire, says she will be making regular trips over to North Yorkshire in the MINI.
She said: “It is a lovely part of the world. I never imagined I would be buying the pub when I was filming Heartbeat back in the day. Never in a million years."
Trish also appeared in Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Boon, The Bill among others.
She also released two singles in 1996 and 2000 and also sang a number of times on Heartbeat.
