Road closures planned on three Sheffield streets for works

Temporary traffic restrictions are set to be introduced on three Sheffield streets to allow works to take place.

Sheffield City Council has proposed a Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles Order affecting Bowling Green Street, Ward Street and South Parade.

If approved, the order will come into operation on February 23, 2026 and remain in force for up to 18 months, although restrictions will only apply when indicated by on-site notices.

The duration can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.

While the order is in operation, it will prohibit vehicles from proceeding, waiting, or waiting for the purposes of loading or unloading on the affected lengths of road.

The restrictions will apply on:

  • Bowling Green Street – from its junction with Ward Street to its junction with South Parade
  • South Parade – from its junction with Bowling Green Street to its junction with Ebenezer Place
  • Ward Street – from its junction with Bowling Green Street for approximately 100 metres

Access to adjacent properties will be maintained at all times, and exemptions will apply for pedestrian and vehicular access to frontages, contractor plant, local authority and emergency service vehicles.

Signed diversion routes will be in place while the restrictions are active.

A copy of the draft order can be viewed on request by contacting Sheffield City Council via [email protected].
