Rotherham road closures and traffic restrictions planned across borough
A series of temporary road closures, traffic restrictions and footpath closures are set to affect parts of Rotherham throughout June, July and beyond as utility, maintenance and infrastructure works are carried out.
Rotherham Council has announced a number of temporary traffic orders affecting roads across the borough as works ranging from water main installations to carriageway resurfacing and power line maintenance are undertaken.
Among the first closures is Greasbrough Lane in Rawmarsh, which will be closed between Back Lane and Haugh Road from June 1 to June 5 to allow vegetation cutting around power lines. Access to the cemetery will be maintained.

A number of roads in Wingfield, Aston, South Anston, Thorpe Hesley, West Melton, Kimberworth and Rawmarsh will also face temporary closures linked to footway improvements, electrical works, telecommunications projects and water main installations.
In Maltby, part of the A631 Tickhill Road will be closed on four Sundays between May 31 and July 26 for carriageway surface dressing works, while sections of Melton High Street, Melton Green and West Mount Avenue in West Melton will be affected by water main installation works until September.
Further restrictions are planned in Wath upon Dearne, where several roads will be closed between June and September for gas renewal works.
Elsewhere, Frederick Street in Rotherham town centre will be closed overnight on June 7 and June 8 for repairs to a sluice valve at the bus station entrance, while Public Footpath No. 5 in Aston is set to close for up to six months from June 6 to allow works to take place nearby.
The council said signed diversion routes will be in place where available, and access for residents or emergency services will be maintained where possible.
