Barnsley next manager: New favourite emerges ahead of MK Dons boss and ex-Chelsea and Leeds United men

A new favourite for the head coach vacancy at Barnsley has emerged.

With just one game of the regular League One season remaining, Barnsley took the decision to part company with Neill Collins. The Reds were still in the top six but were stumbling towards the finish line and there had been discontent among the Oakwell faithful.

Dominik Thalhammer was reported to be the club's choice of successor, although work permit issues were encountered and he could not take the reins. With the vacancy still open, club stalwart Martin Devaney has been at the helm as caretaker boss.

He was in the dugout for Barnsley’s 1-1 draw with Northampton Town, a result that secured their play-off spot. ‘Disco’ then led the club into the first leg of their play-off sem-final.

However, the Reds face an uphill battle after losing 3-1 to the Trotters at Oakwell. They are set to return to action for the second leg tonight (May 7).

Here is a fresh look at the BetVictor favourites to be Barnsley’s next head coach.
