Celtic 'submit bids' for Sheffield United defender and former Leeds United prospect

Celtic have reportedly submitted bids for Sheffield United defender Auston Trusty and former Leeds United prospect Mateusz Bogusz.

Trusty joined Sheffield United from Arsenal last year, making a permanent move to Bramall Lane following an impressive loan spell at Birmingham City.

However, he was unable to prevent the Blades slipping back into the Championship at the end of his maiden campaign.

According to Football Insider, Celtic have tabled a £5m offer for Trusty as they look to bolster their defensive ranks. Sheffield United are believed to be reluctant to sell, but the report claims Celtic are pushing hard to recruit the USA international.

Bogusz, meanwhile, has been enhancing his reputation stateside with Los Angeles FC. He spent four years on the books at Elland Road but failed to establish himself at senior level.

Football Insider have claimed Celtic have tabled a formal bid, with talks between the two clubs believed to be underway.

A former Poland youth international, Bogusz was loaned to Logrones and Ibiza by Leeds before being allowed to depart permanently.

Celtic have had their coffers significantly boosted by the sale of star midfielder Matt O’Riley, who has completed a move to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.

He had been linked with a host of clubs, including Leeds earlier this year, but the Seagulls have won the race for his signature.
