Cheltenham Town v Halifax Town: John McGrath optimistic about chance to showcase talents
Cheltenham Town v FC Halifax Town John McGrath says the chance for him and his Halifax Town players to test themselves against League Two opposition means more than the financial rewards of an FA Cup first-round win.
For the second year running, McGrath is taking a team to Cheltenham Town. Buxton lost 6-2 at Whaddon Road, but McGrath fancies the Shaymen's chances.
"It allows me to pit myself against a League Two manager and to witness my players against League Two players," he said.
"It's the place we want to take the football club, and it'll be a real good indication of where we sit.
"We've had reports on them, and I think we've got a real chance.
"They've got some really good game-changers, so have we.
"We (Buxton) went there last year and we were 2-1 up at half-time, playing with a real intensity," he said.
"We just came off that in the second-half and ended up conceding five second-half goals. I believe this squad is better equipped."
