'It's not enough' - Martin Drury makes admission after Huddersfield Town's defeat to Bromley

Martin Drury has delivered his view on Huddersfield Town’s 2-1 loss to Bromley

Huddersfield Town head coach Martin Drury insisted it is “not enough” to create opportunities and not finish them after his side’s 2-1 defeat to Bromley.

The Terriers enjoyed nearly 70 per cent possession in the capital and registered 18 shots compared to Bromley’s five.

However, it was the hosts who were clinical in front of goal and struck via JJ McKiernan and ex-Terrier Mickel Miller either side of an Ashley Fletcher effort.

Martin Drury’s admission

Drury told HTTV: “[I’m] disappointed, frustrated we've not won the game for the dominance that we had. At times I thought we played some really good football, again just look to the numbers, it's incredible the amount of chances that we've created. 38 touches in the opponent's box yet again.

“So yeah, bitterly disappointed that we've not scored more goals and took three points from the game. On balance, on dominance, on chances created and what the opponent had, not being disrespectful, we should win that game of football.

“And I'm looking at the chances that we've created, they're not half-chances, they're some real glaring chances there in front of goal. But we have to finish and that'll direct our work moving forward.

“You've got to put the ball in the back of the net. There's loads and loads of good things the players are doing right now and I'll continue to give them credit for it but at the same time, we'll hold each other accountable for the fact that we've not won that game of football.”

Huddersfield Town ‘developing’

Drury’s men may not have been sharp in front of goal, but he does believe the fourth-placed outfit are developing at this early stage of the campaign.

He said: “I think it's really obvious the things we're doing really, really well and really obvious the things that we need to improve on. I'd be really concerned if we weren't creating loads and loads of chances.

“I'd be concerned if we weren't developing how we play, but we are. But we have to put the ball in the back of the net and I won't accept today that we've not done that.

“I don't walk away from here pleased with that. It's not enough. It's not enough but I will accept that. We're playing well enough to get us in those positions and we have done in the games across the season so far but I certainly won't accept that we've not scored goals today because the chances we've created are really, really good chances.”
