Hull City, Sunderland, Everton and Ipswich Town 'monitoring' Birmingham City's Jay Stansfield as price mooted

Hull City, Sunderland, Everton and Ipswich Town linked with Birmingham City’s Jay Stansfield

Hull City are reportedly among the Premier League clubs monitoring Birmingham City forward Jay Stansfield.

The Tigers secured promotion via the Championship play-offs and now face the daunting task of assembling a squad capable of staying in the top flight.

Reports have suggested Hull want to blend youth and experience, and the rumour mill is already turning at pace.

Hull City linked with Birmingham City frontman

The latest player to have been linked with the Tigers is Stansfield, who SportsBoom have claimed is on the radar of four Premier League clubs.

Hull are said to hold interest in the 23-year-old alongside Sunderland, Everton and fellow newly-promoted outfit Ipswich Town.

It has been claimed Birmingham will not entertain offers below the €30m (£25.9m) mark, which could make a deal difficult to do. Stansfield, a former England youth international, is under contract at St Andrew’s until 2031.

He was a £15m signing for the Blues back in 2024, when they signed him from Fulham as a League One club. His goals proved crucial in the club’s promotion-winning campaign and he has remained influential in the Championship.

Last season, he weighed in with 10 goals and six assists over the course of 44 league outings. In total, he has registered 47 goals across 138 appearances in Birmingham colours.

There are not thought to have been any formal bids made for Stansfield and it remains to be seen whether reported interest in his signature develops further.

Hull City’s transfer plans

Regarding Hull’s recruitment plans, manager Sergej Jakirović said: "We will try to add better players than we have right now. This is also our job.

"I think the main players who brought us to the Premier League can stay. They can help us as well. We just have to add better players than we have.

"I think Sunderland's recipe is great. They brought dynamic players with the pace and speed. So you can build this type of team."
