'He’s a proper handful' - Alan Shearer suggests England 'motivation' for Leeds United's Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Alan Shearer has delivered a verdict on Leeds United and England forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin
England legend Alan Shearer has claimed England manager Thomas Tuchel will be unable to ignore Dominic Calvert-Lewin if his form in Leeds United colours continues.
After nearly five years in international exile, Calvert-Lewin was drafted back into the England set-up in March. He picked up his 12th cap in a friendly draw with Uruguay, but did not make the plane for the World Cup in the summer.
Having made a strong start to the current campaign, Calvert-Lewin is now back in the Three Lions fold.

Harry Kane is the frontman of choice for England, but Shearer has indicated the desire for caps will still give Leeds’ focal point drive.
He told Betfair: “I guess other than Harry Kane, because he's got that spot for England, a motivation for Calvert-Lewin must be if he carries on then the England manager won't be able to ignore him.
“He’s a proper handful on his day. It doesn’t surprise me to see him in the England squad, especially with Ollie Watkins moving abroad to Saudi Arabia.”
Leeds United’s clash with Crystal Palace
Calvert-Lewin has one more task to complete at club level before he links up with England for a series of four Nations League fixtures.
Leeds are due to host Crystal Palace on Sunday (September 20) and Daniel Farke will be hoping for more of the same from Calvert-Lewin, who bagged a brace in his side’s 4-1 thumping of Newcastle United on Monday (September 14).

Shearer said: “I have been really impressed with Leeds. I did think that they'd have a top half finish in the league and I still believe that, the way they batted Newcastle in midweek was impressive. So, I'm going to go Leeds home win in this one.”
England will host Spain on Saturday (September 26) and then two meetings with Czech Republic will be sandwiched by a trip to Croatia.
