Leeds United 'pushing hard' to strike £7.6m deal for Bundesliga playmaker keen on move

Leeds United are reportedly pushing to strike a deal for SC Freiburg playmaker Roland Sallai.

Various reports have indicated Leeds hold an interest in Sallai, who has been on the books of German outfit SC Freiburg since 2018.

He has accumulated a wealth of Bundesliga experience and previously plied his trade in the Italian, Hungarian and Cypriot top flights.

According to reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Leeds are pushing to sign Sallai in a €9m (£7.59m) deal before the window slams shut. Sallai is said to be keen on the move, which would mark his first to England.

The Hungary international has made 162 appearances for Freiburg, registering 27 goals and 23 assists.

Leeds have been under pressure to recruit following a spate of high-profile departures. Whites boss Daniel Farke made it clear he wanted additions to his attacking department following the exits of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter.

Largie Ramazani has already arrived from Spanish side Almeria, with Manor Solomon expected to follow with a loan switch from Tottenham Hotspur.

Leeds have also been linked with the likes of AFC Bournemouth defender Max Aarons, while reports have suggested they have seen a bid for Gustavo Hamer rejected by Sheffield United.

Farke’s men are due to return to Championship action at the weekend, welcoming Yorkshire rivals Hull City to Elland Road.
