Leeds United USA tour: Notable absences from travelling squad including Largie Ramazani and Joe Gelhardt

A look at the notable absences from Leeds United’s pre-season tour squad

Leeds United have named a 30-man squad for their pre-season trip to the USA.

Preparations for the club’s upcoming Premier League campaign will continue stateside, with friendlies against Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool lined up.

Daniel Farke’s men will face Wrexham in Florida on July 26 before taking on Sunderland in New Jersey on July 31 and Liverpool in Chicago on August 2.

New signings Tarik Muharemović and Harry Wilson have been included, as have a raft of promising youngsters including Alfie Cresswell and Jayden Lienou.

However, fans were quick to notice some senior absences from the list of players with seats on the plane.

The Yorkshire Post has taken a look at the senior players who are not travelling across the pond as part of the Leeds squad.

Noah Okafor

The winger is missing from the squad but there is no reason for Leeds fans to be alarmed. He has been given an extended break following his involvement at the World Cup with Switzerland, who reached the quarter-final stage of the competition.

Largie Ramazani

Leeds loaned the winger to Valencia last summer, but did not insert a buy option in his deal. The 25-year-old is still under contract at Elland Road yet has not made the squad for the USA tour.

A member of Leeds’ Championship title-winning squad in 2025, Ramazani has been linked with a move back to La Liga with Valencia.

Joe Gelhardt

The 24-year-old helped Hull City seal promotion to the Premier League as a loanee last season, delivering a 15-goal haul in the Championship.

There has been talk of a potential move back to the MKM Stadium for the versatile attacker and he will not form part of Leeds’ squad in the USA.

Jack Harrison

This time last year, Harrison was being reintegrated into the Leeds fold after back-to-back seasons on loan at Everton.

He underwhelmed in the first half of the 2025/26 campaign and a loan switch to Fiorentina was sanctioned in January. The 29-year-old has not been made in the squad for the stateside tour, although is being linked with a Major League Soccer move.

Max Wober

The 28-year-old defender endured a torrid 2025/26 season, managing just three appearances on loan at Werder Bremen due to injury problems.

A return to the picture at Elland Road appears unlikely given the Austria international is not USA-bound.

Mateo Joseph

Joseph’s absence from the squad did not come as a surprise, as the Spaniard suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury while out on loan at Mallorca last season.
