Next Wycombe Wanderers manager: Former Sheffield United defender a contender for Huddersfield Town and Barnsley FC's promotion rivals

Matt Bloomfield’s appointment as manager of Luton Town has created an opening at the club he has just left, League One high-flyers Wycombe Wanderers – one which two Yorkshire clubs in particular will be taking particular interest in.

Bloomfield, 40, takes charge of the Hatters after Rob Edwards agreed to step down from the role last week.

He arrives at the Championship from Sky Bet League One promotion hopefuls Wycombe and will be joined by assistant Richard Thomas, first-team coach Lee Harrison and analyst Ben Cirne.

Bloomfield, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract, made over 500 appearances for the Chairboys as a player and returned to Adams Park as a manager in 2023 following a stint in charge of Colchester.

But who will now succeed him as manager of Wycombe, a team who are second in League One, four points clear of fourth-placed Huddersfield Town who they lost 1-0 to last Tuesday, and nine clear of Barnsley in fifth.

Here’s a look at the contenders. Odds provided by Bonus Code Bets.
