Rotherham United 'eyeing' former Aston Villa and Bristol City man Andreas Weimann after Derby County exit
Rotherham United have been linked with a former Derby County forward known to Steve McClaren
Rotherham United are reportedly eyeing an ambitious move for free agent forward Andreas Weimann.
The 34-year-old is a veteran of nearly 400 Championship appearances and has been capped by the Austria national team on 26 occasions.
He started his career in the Premier League with Aston Villa but has spent the bulk of his career in the second tier, representing Watford, Derby County, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bristol City, West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.
Weimann played under Rotherham’s head of football Steve McClaren during his first spell at Derby and it appears a reunion could be on the cards.

According to Football League World, Rotherham are eyeing a move for the veteran attacker following the end of his second Derby spell.
The Rams loaned him to Rapid Vienna for the second half of the 2025/26 season before confirming his release when the curtain came down on the campaign.
Weimann would arguably be a coup for the Millers, who are preparing for life in League Two after relegation from the third tier.
Rotherham United’s new era
McClaren has Alex Bruce working underneath him as Rotherham’s head coach and four new additions have been made to Bruce’s squad.
Rotherham have recruited midfielders Ossama Ashley and Jamie Jellis, winger Aaron Nemane and forward Fabio Tavares.

The quartet have all arrived in South Yorkshire on free transfers and Weimann is also available to pick up without the need for a fee.
Rotherham are also assessing trialists, with former Hull City and Manchester United defender Brandon Williams among them.
Weimann was loaned out to Wolves during McClaren’s reign as Derby boss but if he moved to the New York Stadiun, he would most likely be doing so for regular football.
