Sheffield United academy graduate previously eyed by Newcastle United in 'talks' with Everton as decision looms

Former Sheffield United prospect Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly in talks with Everton over his future - but may need a huge contract offer.

The 27-year-old is in the final year of his Toffees deal and was at the centre of intense transfer speculation over the summer.

Newcastle United were among the clubs linked with the England-capped marksman, as were Manchester United, Brentford and West Ham United.

A move away from Goodison Park failed to transpire, meaning Everton now risk losing him on a free transfer. According to Football Insider, there are talks ongoing between Calvert-Lewin and the club.

However, it will reportedly take a huge offer to convince the forward to continue his lengthy association with the Toffees.

Everton are believed to be keen on retaining key players, although may need to work swiftly in the case of Calvert-Lewin. In January, he will be eligible to pen pre-contract agreements with overseas clubs.

He signed for Everton back in 2016, having ascended Sheffield United’s youth ranks and moved into the senior set-up.

Everton paid a reported £1.5m to prise him from the Blades, who he had made 12 appearances for.
