'Everybody turned up' - Chris Wilder keen for Sheffield United to kick on after 1-0 win over Wrexham

Chris Wilder has reflected on his Sheffield United side’s 1-0 win over Wrexham

Chris Wilder is keen to see Sheffield United kick on following their 1-0 win over Wrexham.

The Blades are starting to find their feet after a tough start to the Championship season and climbed to 10th in the table with the victory last night (October 30).

Having seen his side collect three valuable points, Wilder wants to see his players settle into a rhythm of consistency.

Chris Wilder on Sheffield United’s win over Wrexham

He said: “We needed to put in a 95-minute performance together. We’re trying to find that consistency.

“A lot of clubs are still finding their way after 12 games and they’re all looking for that consistency. It was up to us to take the initiative and we certainly did. Everybody turned up.

“Hopefully we can kick on from tonight’s performance. I thought we were the better team and fully deserved the win.”

Ben Brereton Diaz off the mark

Ben Brereton Diaz, who joined on loan from Southampton in the summer, notched the game’s only goal on the 30-minute mark.

It was his first goal of the campaign and Wilder was pleased to see the Chile international get off the mark.

He said: “As we all know straight away not everybody hits the ground running. Not any player, whatever division they are and sometimes to get themselves going, but that will do him no harm.

“I thought the performance from the two at the top of the pitch was really good, especially in the first half. They linked well, stretched well and I think the better team won the game of football.”

Wilder hopes Patrick Bamford will be fit for the midweek trip to Preston North End after failing a late fitness test, while Joe Rothwell sustained a groin strain during the warm-up.
