Sheffield United 'checking on' Plymouth Argyle's Lorent Tolaj as Preston North End and Leicester City linked
Sheffield United linked with Plymouth Argyle star Lorent Tolaj along with Preston North End and Leicester City
Sheffield United are reportedly keeping an eye on Plymouth Argyle marksman Lorent Tolaj.
A former Switzerland youth international, Tolaj was released by Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2023 having failed to make a first-team breakthrough.
He dropped down to the National League to rebuild his career and has been on an upward trajectory ever since. His exploits in the fifth tier with Aldershot Town caught the eye of Port Vale, who were fired to promotion from League Two by Tolaj’s goals in 2025.
League One outfit Plymouth signed the 24-year-old last summer and his goal tally for the season stands at 17.

Sheffield United credited with interest in Plymouth Argyle star
According to reporter Alan Nixon via his Patreon page, Sheffield United are checking on the prolific forward.
He is also said to be of interest to Sheffield United’s Championship rivals Preston North End, who defeated the Blades 3-2 at the weekend.
League One-bound Leicester City, meanwhile, are also thought to be on the trail of the former Brighton prospect.
Sheffield United needing to box clever
Sheffield United will not have parachute payments to rely on next term and will consequently need to box clever.
The Blades may have to sacrifice some of their most coveted assets and there has been speculation over the future of midfielders Gustavo Hamer and Sydie Peck.
Sales could allow for investment in Chris Wilder’s squad and speculation is starting to intensify with the summer transfer window approaching.

Sheffiled United have been credited with interest in Aston Villa winger Lewis Dobbin, who is currently on loan at Preston. There has also been talk of interest in another former England youth international winger in Barnsley star Reyes Cleary.
It remains to be seen how the Blades will attack the window but it appears likely there will be some tough decisions made.
