Cambridge United boss Neil Harris reveals what he expects from 'hurting' Sheffield Wednesday
Cambridge United boss Neil Harris has previewed his side’s upcoming trip to Sheffield Wednesday
Cambridge United boss Neil Harris has insisted he knows what to expect from a “hurting” Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls are reeling from a 2-0 derby defeat to Doncaster Rovers, a loss that prompted a parting of ways with manager Henrik Pedersen.
Former Rotherham United manager Matt Hamshaw has been handed the reins on a temporary basis and will oversee Wednesday’s meeting with Cambridge at Hillsborough tonight (October 27).

Neil Harris on Sheffield Wednesday
Harris told the Cambridge Independent: “It’s a great occasion, great for the football club to go to Hillsborough and great for the fanbase to take over a 1,000 – that’s all brilliant – but I want a performance now.
“I want to bounce back, and to see a mentality because we’re going up against a team that is hurting. They’ve had two poor results in a row, so they’ll be expecting to bounce back at Hillsborough.
“They’re going to come at us, and I know what to expect. I need to pick a team that stands up to that.”
Sheffield Wednesday seeking improvement
Wednesday sit eighth in the League One table, two points adrift of sixth-placed Cambridge.
After the Owls parted ways with Pedersen, their sporting director Simon Wilson insisted they had not see “enough progress” in certain areas.

He said: “We knew the start of this season would be difficult due to the scale of change across the club, but our expectation was always that we would develop as the season progressed, establishing a recognisable style of play and greater consistency in our performances.
“Although we have accumulated points, we haven’t seen enough progress in those areas. We believe making a change now gives us the best opportunity to establish those foundations and build towards the second half of the season and beyond.”
