Sheffield Wednesday complete loan signing of former Manchester City prospect from Southampton
The move has reunited Charles with his brother Pierce, the promising goalkeeper currently part of the first-team picture at Hillsborough.
He has become Wednesday’s 11th signing of the summer and the second to join on loan, following in the footsteps of Brighton & Hove Albion’s James Beadle.

He made 33 appearances in the Championship last season, helping the Saints clinch promotion via the play-offs. Russell Martin’s men defeated Leeds United at Wembley to book their place in the top flight, although Charles was an unused substitute under the arch.
A versatile figure, Charles is a central midfielder by trade but also been deployed at centre-back and right-back during his career.
Despite being born in Manchester, he represents Northern Ireland at international level and the 20-year-old has already collected 17 senior caps.
