The Minstermen had chances, Wes Fletcher’s shot was blocked, while visiting goalkeeper Scott Brown thwarted Michael Coulson, Josh Carson and John McCombe.

“I thought the players put a real shift in,” said Worthington.

“They were very positive from the first whistle and playing against the wind in the first half, I thought we dealt with that very well.

“It was a case of making sure with the conditions we passed it a bit more in the second half to feet and not into space because once the wind got hold of the ball there was no way of catching it.

“So we tried to do the right thing, we got the ball into the box and on a good day we would have probably come away with 3 points.

“But it was a hard fought 0-0 and neither side wanted to give anything.”

Both sides have 36 points, seven clear of the relegation zone but 11 away from the play-off places.
