Former Leeds star Gary McAllister tees it up in Senior Masters

FORMER Leeds United captain and manager Gary McAllister was among the stars who turned out for the pro-am yesterday ahead of the inaugural 36-hole Leeds Senior Masters at Leeds Golf Centre.

The event is free for spectators, and the first group tees off at 9am.

Part of the Senior Masters Tour, this week’s event – which will involve over 65 professionals – is the first of its kind in Yorkshire for over 30 years, and among the biggest events outside of the European Seniors Tour.

Its aim is to help promote the senior professional circuit and Ryder Cup players, European Tour winners and PGA champions are among the line-up with the likes of Fraser Mann, Andrew Oldcorn, Paul Wesselingh, Peter Baker and Gordon J Brand involved.

Billy McQueenie and Brendan McGovern will be the first men out.

Winners of Tuesday’s afternoon pro-am with 94pts were professional Jose Romero, Matty Brighton, Chris Atkin, Gary Atkin.
