Hobday star guest as clubs get funding lift

ACKWORTH & District Riding Club and Moorhouse Equestrian Centre have secured funding from the British Equestrian Federation via their ‘Hoofs’ capital funding initiative.

To celebrate both successes, Moorhouse will now hold a grand opening this Saturday with a special guest appearance from Ben Hobday.

Situated in between Doncaster, Wakefield, Barnsley and Pontefract, Moorhouse Equestrian is a family-run establishment currently run as a livery/competition centre that has had a new surface put down in both of their indoor arenas supplied by Doncaster-based company Fibrelok.

Ackworth are also celebrating after bagging match-funding to buy equipment that will benefit their members for training and also allow the club to run open competitions.

Ackworth has gone from strength to strength in 2014 with membership increasing by 50 per cent.

Over 19 riders qualified for the British Riding Club Championships in each discipline with Alex Johnson and It’s Romeo winning the style jumping at the National Championships in Lincolnshire.

Both Ackworth and Moorhouse will celebrate this Saturday with the weekend’s event also featuring an Indoor Arena Show Cross Competition – a round of show jumps then onto indoor cross-country fences.

There will also be a #selfie competition with special guest international event rider Hobday and a tombola will run throughout the day. Mulled wine and mince pies will help with the Christmas spirit.

Entries are still available and there will be limited entries on the day.
