Huddersfield Giants new boy Jeylan Hodgson out to prove doubters wrong
Huddersfield Giants have dipped into the Championship to sign young Goole Vikings hooker Jeylan Hodgson.
The former Hull FC academy prospect was a standout performer for the Vikings in the second tier this year, scoring eight tries in 24 appearances.
Hodgson is determined to show he can crack the top level after signing a two-year deal with the Giants.
"I've been in a full-time environment before and I let that go so this time around I want to prove everybody wrong," he said.
"I can learn a lot from Zac Woolford. He's, in my opinion, one of the best hookers in the league so I'm excited to learn a lot from him.
"It's a great opportunity for me and I can't wait to get started."
The signing of Hodgson quickly follows new deals for Harry Rushton and Adam Swift.
Giants director of rugby Andy Kelly said: "He's tough. He's in a great age range to be able to develop and join the squad.

"In the weeks we've watched him play, he's been the standout player and a player that other Betfred Super League clubs have looked at.
"Jeylan will add to our hooking capability and will learn a lot from Zac Woolford. He's another addition that we're underpinning our squad with and it's an exciting capture for the Giants."
