One in, one out at Wakefield Trinity as Castleford Tigers confirm Mason Lino signing

Mason Lino has been backed to have a big impact at Castleford Tigers after completing his move from West Yorkshire neighbours Wakefield Trinity.

The half-back has signed a two-year deal with the Tigers, signalling the end of his six-season spell at Wakefield.

Lino, who has made 128 appearances for Trinity, will sign off in the play-offs as the club chase a first Super League title.

Castleford have continued their struggles this year but director of rugby Chris Chester views the signing of Lino as another step in the right direction.

"I'm delighted to bring Mason to the Castleford Tigers," said Chester, who has already signed St George Illawarra Dragons trio Damien Cook, Mat Feagai and Tyrell Sloan.

"Mason is a very smart rugby league player with a great kicking game. Mase is a great leader on and off the field and a player that competes hard every time he goes onto that pitch.

"I know how much Mason is looking forward to coming to Castleford and I know the impact he will have too on the playing group."

Wakefield, meanwhile, have confirmed the signing of Leeds Rhinos centre Ned McCormack.

The 21-year-old, who has signed a deal until the end of the 2029 campaign, will join Rhinos team-mate Cameron Smith at Belle Vue as Daryl Powell's squad for next season continues to take shape.

McCormack has made six appearances for Leeds and gained further experience during loan spells at Halifax Panthers, Hunslet and Huddersfield Giants.

Powell likes what he has seen from the small sample size.

"We are delighted to sign Ned," said the Wakefield boss. "He's a talented young outside back with great footwork and speed.

"I've been tracking him since he was on loan at Halifax when we were in the Championship. I feel like he's got a big future and will be an awesome signing to continue our focus on further development of young players for the future."
