Storm Boelo: Is there a weather warning issued for Yorkshire this week? Here’s what to expect in areas such as Leeds, York, Bradford, Sheffield and Hull
Amber weather warnings for wind were issued for various parts of the UK over the weekend - but is Yorkshire affected? Here’s everything you need to know.
Amber warnings for wind were enforced for Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland and northern England for Saturday night, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026 , according to the Met Office.
Storm Boelo resulted in widespread gusts of 60-70mph within the warning area, with gusts of up to 80mph in exposed coastal areas.
Storm Boelo followed Storm Austen, the first named storm of the season.

Met Office chief forecaster, Jason Kelly, said on Friday, October 23: “Storm Boelo will be felt across the UK this weekend, with the strongest winds and greatest potential for disruption in the north.
“Amber warnings are in place across mainland Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland and the far north of England, where gusts of 60-70mph are expected widely, with the potential for 80mph in exposed coastal locations.
“Strong winds will also affect other parts of the UK, with gusts of 50-60mph possible in places. Heavy rain will provide an additional hazard, particularly in the north, bringing the potential for further impacts.
“People should prepare for the potential for disruption, particularly to travel and power supplies. Secure loose items outside, plan ahead if you are travelling and keep up to date with the latest forecast and warnings for your area.”
While Yorkshire wasn’t issued a weather warning, the winds were strong over the weekend and people in the region experienced travel disruption, with trains being cancelled or severely delayed.
The region is set to continue to be weather warning free, and while weather will be unstable throughout the day today (October 26) for various areas in Yorkshire, the rest of the week looks drier and brighter.
In Leeds, it is forecasted to be heavy rain until 1pm today, while the rest of the week will be cloudy with sunny spells.
In York, there will be light rain throughout the day and the rest of the week will also be cloudy with sunny spells, with nothing but sunshine expected from 11am onwards on Thursday and from 1pm onwards on Friday.
In Bradford, there is a mixture of heavy and light rain throughout the day today, while the rest of the week will be cloudy with sunny spells until Friday when it will get sunny from 11am onwards.
It will be a mix of heavy rain and dry with clouds in Sheffield throughout the day today, while the rest of the week will be cloudy with sunny spells until Friday when it will get sunny from 10am onwards.
In Hull it is similar to York; there will be a mix of light and heavy rain throughout the day and the rest of the week will also be cloudy with sunny spells, with nothing but sunshine expected from 7am onwards on Thursday and from 7am onwards on Friday.
