Hull City transfer news: Loan education continues for former Doncaster Rovers player

Hull City goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala will spend next season on loan at League Two Colchester United after two stints with Doncaster Rovers.

It is four years since the Tigers bought French-born Lo-Tutala from Tottenham Hotspur, yet he is still to play competitive senior football for them.

In that time he has had loans at Stevenage and Doncaster in League Two, plus a one-game emergency loan at League One Crawley Town in March 2025.

Last season saw him play more regularly in the third tier, but after some error-strewn displays, Rovers sent the then-22-year-old back in mid-season.

Lo-Tutala enjoys playing high up the field as a “sweeper-keeper” when his team is in possession.

Now he will return to the fourth tier to continue his education.

Hull sold first-choice goalkeeper Ivor Pandur to Rangers in June to help avoid a potential fine or points deduction for breaching spending rules, but have since replaced him twice over with experienced former England goalkeeper Jack Butland and club record £20m signing Konstantinos Tzolakis. With Dillon Phillips signed from Rotherham United 12 months ago to play a back-up role, there seems little immediate prospect of game-time for Lo-Tutala at what is now a Premier League club.
