Ipswich Town 'register interest' in former Barnsley star previously eyed by Leeds United and Sheffield United

Ipswich Town have reportedly registered an interest in signing former Barnsley winger Ryan Kent from Fenerbahce.

Reports have indicated the 27-year-old is set to leave Fenerbahce after just one season in the Turkish top flight. He joined the club from Rangers last year but the switch has not quite worked out.

He had been linked with an array of clubs before heading out to Turkey, including Leeds United and Sheffield United. Leeds had been reported to be long-term admirers of the wideman, who was named as a target during the reign of Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.

A move to Elland Road or Bramall Lane would have marked a return to Yorkshire for Kent, who spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Barnsley while cutting his teeth at Liverpool.

He made 47 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals and registering three assists. At the end of the season, he was crowned the club’s Young Player of the Year.

According to Football Insider, he is being eyed by Ipswich as they prepare for life in the Premier League. The Tractor Boys are said to be keen on striking a deal for Kent, while they are also understood to be in talks about a swoop for Hull City’s Jacob Greaves.

Kieran McKenna’s side have also been linked with Hull talisman Jaden Philogene and have already completed moves for Ben Johnson and Omari Hutchinson.
