Lee Grant 'in the frame' for Walsall job less than four months after Huddersfield Town sacking
Lee Grant linked with EFL post less than four months on from Huddersfield Town sacking
Lee Grant is reportedly in the frame for the Walsall job less than four months on from his Huddersfield Town exit.
The 43-year-old, who represented Sheffield Wednesday in his goalkeeping days, was handed the reins at Huddersfield in May last year.
He was viewed as the solution to the club’s problems and a figure capable of leading the Terriers back to the Championship.
It did not pan out as planned for the West Yorkshire club, who decided to end his reign in January with their promotion push running out of steam.
His first managerial stint may not have worked out but Grant could soon find himself back in the EFL.

Lee Grant linked with Walsall post
According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Grant is in the frame for the head coach vacancy at Walsall.
The League Two club are currently under the temporary control of Darren Byfield, who picked up the baton from Mat Sadler in March.
Posting on X, O’Rourke said: “Understand former Huddersfield Town boss Lee Grant is in the frame for the vacant manager’s job at Walsall having made the shortlist for the role.”
The Saddlers are currently languishing in 12th in the League Two table.
Lee Grant’s Huddersfield Town spell
Grant may not have succeeded at Huddersfield but there is plenty of time for the former goalkeeper to fulfi his coaching potential.
He was highly-rated behind the scenes at Ipswich Town, where he assisted Kieran McKenna, before making the move to West Yorkshire.
While on punditry duty with Sky Sports in February, Grant reflected upon his short tenure as Huddersfield manager.

He said: “I loved every minute of being a manager, that's for sure. Of course, the challenges are vast. I would have loved to have been given the opportunity to continue the job that myself and the players set out on at the beginning of the season.
“Of course, that's not the case, but I've got full confidence that, despite the fact the form isn't quite where they want it to be at this moment in time, this group of players can go and achieve the things that they want to do this season."
Grant was succeeded by Liam Manning, who is now on compassionate leave. Recent games have been overseen by Martin Drury and Jon Stead, who have not managed to push the Terriers into the top six.
The curtain will come down on Huddersfield’s dismal season this weekend, then they make the journey to the capital to take on AFC Wimbledon.
