Sheffield United 'considering' move to sign Millwall's on-loan Southampton midfielder Will Smallbone
Sheffield United are reportedly considering a move to sign Millwall’s on-loan Southampton midfielder Will Smallbone.
The 25-year-old has previously cropped on the radar at Bramall Lane, although has never sealed a move to South Yorkshire.
He is still on the books of Southampton, who developed him within their academy, but is currently out on loan at Millwall.
His time at The Den has been hampered by an injury that has kept him on the treatment table since October.
However, his struggle with injury does not appear to have stopped Sheffield United eyeing up the 15-cap Republic of Ireland international.

Sheffield United eye Southampton midfielder
According to SportsBoom, Sheffield United are considering reigniting their interest at the end of the season.
The report has suggested Sheffield United believe Southampton could accept a lower fee as a result of Smallbone’s injury woes.
However, the former Stoke City loanee would have to prove his fitness over the coming months at Millwall.
Sheffield United in the transfer market
There is still a lot of football to play this season, yet Sheffield United cannot afford to think solely about the short term.
If Sheffield United miss out on the play-offs this season, there will need to be a restructure in order to right the wrongs of the current campaign.
A poor start made under Ruben Selles gave Wilder a mountain to climb when he returned for his third spell in charge.
However, for the time being, January business will be a priority at Bramall Lane. The club appear to be closing in on the loan signing Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ki-Jana Hoever, a former Netherlands youth international.

The former Liverpool prospect has made just eight appearances in the Premier League this season and a temporary switch to Bramall Lane is believed to be on the cards.
Sheffield United currently sit 16th in the Championship table, nine points adrift of the play-offs.
