Leeds United hero and ex-Aston Villa, Cardiff City, Rangers and Fulham man Ross McCormack joins ninth-tier club
A former Leeds United and Fulham star has signed for a club in the ninth tier of English football
Former Leeds United star Ross McCormack has returned to Yorkshire with a move to ninth-tier Knaresborough Town.
The 40-year-old was a shining light in a dark period for Leeds, scoring 58 goals across 157 appearances between 2010 and 2014 after joining from Cardiff City.
He proved incredibly popular among the Elland Road faithful, who often only had McCormack’s exploits to cheer about.
The forward sealed an £11m move to Fulham to end his LS11 stay, going on to net an impressive 42 goals across 100 outings for the Cottagers. Spells with Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Melbourne City, Central Coast Mariners and Motherwell followed before the Scot ventured into non-league football.

Shock move for ex-Leeds United star
Having previously had brief spells with Liversedge, Doncaster City and amateur Scottish side Giffnock North, McCormack has now linked up with Knaresborough.
A spokesperson for ‘The Boro’, who compete in the Northern Counties East League (NCEL) Premier Division, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Ross McCormack to Knaresborough Town.
“The experienced striker joins with an incredible career behind him, having represented Rangers, Leeds United and Aston Villa. Welcome to the club, Ross.”
The Ross McCormack factor
McCormack’s best years on the pitch are well behind him, but Knaresborough will be hoping he can conjure up some of the magic he was known for in the professional game.
He could also attract more spectators to their Manse Lane home, with the North Yorkshire market town home to plenty of Leeds fans.

Over a decade has passed since McCormack left Leeds but the former Scotland international is a fairly frequent visitor to Elland Road.
