There have also been reports of Southampton eyeing a permanent deal, although it appears Sheffield United may have won the race for his signature. According to Football Insider, Rak-Sakyi has agreed to move to Bramall Lane on a temporary basis.

Reports had previously indicated the Blades were willing to offer the winger a pay rise in order to lure him to South Yorkshire.

A former England under-20 international, Rak-Sakyi is well thought of at Selhurst Park and was in and around the senior set-up at the start of last season. He was appearing from the bench frequently until injury brought his progress to a halt.

Having previously lit up League One during a loan spell at Charlton Athletic, it appears the wideman will now have a chance to shine in the second tier of English football.

If a deal is pushed over the line, it would represent a continuation of Sheffield United’s aggressive approach to the transfer market. They have recently landed a number of in-demand figures, with Alfie Gilchrist, Harrison Burrows and Kieffer Moore among them.

There have, however, also been some high-profile departures at Bramall Lane. The most recent to depart is forward Will Osula, who has stepped back up to the Premier League with a move to Newcastle United.
