Employment law is back in the news with the Government’s game-changing Employment Rights Bill working its way through Parliament, but most of those changes are not expected to come into force until 2026. ‘Meanwhile the usual updates to statutory pay rates take effect from April 2025, including a significant jump in the national minimum wage rate for 18 to 20-year-olds as the Government moves towards a single rate for workers aged 18 and over,’ says Jessica Gowar, Head of Employment with Ware & Kay in York, Wetherby and Malton.
