Yorkshire Air Museum: Hull’s strongest man to attempt to pull WWII Halifax bomber aircraft
Hull’s strongest man will attempt to pull the Second World War Halifax bomber aircraft at the Yorkshire Air Museum.
Miroslav Pohlodek has won the crown of ‘Hull’s strongest man’ three years in a row and has already built a reputation by pulling numerous trucks.
His next challenge will be pulling a Second World War heavy bomber at the Yorkshire Air Museum on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The forklift truck driver has even hauled an eight-and-a-half tonne lorry, using his teeth.

As the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington near York prepares for its upcoming wartime weekend ‘We’ll Meet Again’ - Mr Pohlodek will be attempting to haul the museum’s star.
The Handley Page Halifax MkIII bomber ‘Friday the 13th’ weighs 17 tonnes, and Mr Pohlodek, 42, who is originally from Slovakia, aims to pull it at least 12 metres.
The aircraft, the only example of its kind in Europe, is the type that flew from RAF Elvington during the Second World War. The museum is currently running a display marking 30 years since it was unveiled to the public, after a 13-year restoration project.
Unfortunately, Miroslav was unable to pull the Halifax bomber, stating that the challenge had several obstacles including the 'soft front tire' and 'uneven ground'.
